Affordable Resilient Housing for Vulnerable Communities: a Refresher Course for Dutch Fellows

A refresher course entitled “Affordable Resilient Housing for Vulnerable Communities” will be held from November 19-29, 2012 at the University of the Philippines-Diliman, Quezon City. This will be hosted by the IHS or International Institute of Urban Management of Erasmus University Rotterdam, in collaboration with Netherlands Fellows Foundation of the Philippines (NFFPI),  the University of the Philippines School of Urban and Regional Planning (UP-SURP) and UP Planning and Development Research Foundation (UP Planades).

The main objective of the course is to build amongst participants a clear understanding of the relationship between housing, poverty, vulnerability and climate change.

Specifically, the course aims at building an understanding of how vulnerable groups are affected and play a role in shaping necessary planning interventions, development strategies and policy formulation, which are in line with international, national and local concerns dealing with the creation of sustainable and resilient human settlements.

The refresher course is sponsored by The Netherlands Organisation for International Cooperation in Higher Education (NUFFIC) for alumni under Netherlands Fellows Programme (NFP), aiming to increase the impact and prolong the effect of earlier funding.

The course will be attended by NFP Alumni from South East Asia, mainly, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand.
